Analysis of resampling schemes
- The multi-tap FIR is along the lines of Rec. 601 filter recommendations
but adapted to 4:1:1. This general approach optimizes performance to reduce
generation loss (not shown). This comes at the expense of ringing artifacts.
- The nearest neighbour and box resampling schemes have very poor performance
in my opinion. However, they are commonly used. *Exception: I have never seen
nearest neighbour resampling used for 4:1:1 (likely because it looks terrible).
- In my opinion, the linear resampling scheme looks the best out of these
four resampling schemes.
